THE METEOROLOGICAL Institute placed several districts in Portugal including Faro on orange alert, the third level in a scale of four, because of strong winds and bad weather this week.
On Wednesday, the region was affected by strong south easterly winds reaching a maximum of 110 km per hour with heavy rainfall and hail in some parts.
Coastal towns are also on alert because of high waves reaching up to five meters. This weather was predicted to continue until yesterday (Thursday).
