Winners of the Algarve Bike Rides charity weight loss contest have been announced after the month long competition.
At the start of January, participants were asked to weigh in and at the end of the month they were again weighed with prizes awarded to the biggest losers.
Jacqueline Leembruggen was the winner in the two weight loss categories after losing 8.1 kilos and the greatest percentage of body fat, while James Mclauchlan was the winner of the most kilometres cycled having completed around 400 kilometres over the month.
Organiser of the challenge Paul Beesley said: “Participants in the contest paid an entry fee of €20 and the prizes were a small proportion of the overall pool of entrance fees. The remainder of the money was donated to the Centre Algarve charity project in Moncarapacho.”
The Algarve Bike Rides group come together three times a week and hold a number of social and charity events with the next being the ACCA charity bike ride to be held on May 1.
