Wet track simulator

A new system has been installed at the Algarve Motor Park to allow the track to be covered with water and the paddock to become a wet area.

The motor park is one of the few circuits in Europe to have this system of rainfall simulation installed to allow users the opportunity to develop driving skills in wet weather conditions and also to facilitate the testing of tyres for both cars and bikes.

The system is already in operation at the motor park and allows individual areas of the track to have different levels of water to allow for a greater versatility of testing to take place.

Paul Pinheiro, CEO of the Algarve Motor Park, said: “This system has been part of our plans from the very beginning.  It is an asset to the circuit and for its users, and makes the track even more versatile.”

Meanwhile, following last week’s story ‘Kart track opens’, the Algarve Resident would like to clarify that the kart track is, in fact, not yet open to the public and an official date for the opening has not yet been decided.

A spokesman at the race track told the Algarve Resident this week: “Although the local press has reported that July would mark the opening of the kart track, the fact is that we don’t know when that will be.

“Work on the kart track is still being carried out, but the venue is not yet open to the public.”
