A man who strangled his wife to death and claimed he “acted out of impulse” has been jailed for 17 years and four months.
The 42-year-old from Alverca strangled his wife with a shoelace following a heated row. He then tied her up, hands and feet, and left her in the pantry.
Defence lawyer Renata Costa told journalists after the trial that there may well be an appeal, as the defendant still maintains the murder was not premeditated.
