A former couple who had recently broken up got involved in a physical fight on Avenida dos Descobrimentos in Lagos, which began after the woman allegedly attempted to stab her ex-boyfriend with a knife.
The clash, which took place at around 5.10am last Sunday, was stopped by a night watchman who saw the woman screaming for help as she was being held down by her ex-boyfriend.
Her assailant claimed she had tried to attack him with a 10cm kitchen knife, which was located only a couple of metres away. The woman admitted that the knife belonged to her.
According to the Diário de Notícias newspaper, the man is a chef in Almancil and the woman a chef in Lagos,
They were meeting in Lagos so that the woman could return the man’s possessions which he had left at her house.
PSP police were informed of the incident and have already identified the couple and confiscated the knife.
The woman is expected to be accused by the local Public Prosecutor’s office of possession of a prohibited weapon.
