Work stopped

CONSTRUCTION OF a five-star hotel in front of São Rafael beach in Albufeira has been partially stopped by the câmara following complaints from residents.

The hotel, owned by Grupo Carlos Saraiva (GCS), is under construction 500 metres from the beach and has a total of five floors, two of which are underground.

Although there are only three visible floors, it exceeds the area’s maximum of four floors and work was been prohibited in the basement.

GCS claims that work stopped due to changes to the hotel and new plans are allegedly awaiting approval by the câmara.
