Nomad World Fest – Albufeira Edition to take place from May 27 to 31
Albufeira is gearing up to welcome remote workers from around the world as the Nomad World Fest – Albufeira Edition returns for its third edition from May 27 to 31 at the local marina.
Organised by DNA Portugal (Digital Nomads Association) in collaboration with the municipal council of Albufeira, the event promises a blend of expert talks, hands-on workshops, and coastal fun, all designed to explore themes like remote work, Web3, artificial intelligence, co-living, co-working, and the ever-evolving future of work. In short, the festival aims to “celebrate freedom, connection and personal growth”, organisers say.
Alongside the usual workshops and talks these events are known for, the Nomad World Fest will also feature live music sunsets, boat trips, gastronomic showcases, beach volleyball, hiking, and paddleboarding.
Speaking in support of the event, Albufeira mayor José Carlos Rolo highlighted the town’s ‘Sala Azul’ (Blue Room) as a popular gathering point for digital nomads. He also highlighted the growing trend among younger generations, especially Gen Y and Z, to seek work that allows mobility – even jokingly imagining reports being written with feet in the sea.
Statistics from the 2024 edition show the event’s strong international popularity, with its online content, from stories to reels, reaching over 106,000 views in countries such as Portugal (26.88%), the USA (12.10%), Spain (11.83%), the UK (6.72%), Germany (3.49%), Italy (3.36%), Brazil (2.69%), the Netherlands (2.28%), Canada (2.15%) and Switzerland (2.02%). Meanwhile, Lisbon (3.49%), Albufeira (3.35%), New York (2.28%), and Barcelona and Cascais (2.02%) topped the list of cities where most people engaged with the online content, followed by London (1.85%), Faro (1.61%), Funchal (1.48%), Olhão (1.21%), and Porto (1.21%).
