The Algarve is preparing to host two high-profile international events this month, each bringing influential buyers and decision-makers to the southern Portuguese region.
Supported by regional tourism board Turismo do Algarve, the events aim to promote the region’s year-round appeal, encouraging visitors beyond the summer season, by shining a spotlight on the “authentic, personalised and exclusive” experiences it has to offer.
From Friday to Monday (October 10-13), the Unique Travel Show will take place at Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa in Porches. The event will gather luxury travel curators and professionals from key markets such as Germany, Austria, and Switzerland – countries known for their strong demand in premium tourism.
Organised with the backing of Turismo do Algarve’s special promotion plan, the show is expected to strengthen the Algarve’s image as a destination of “quality and exclusivity” while encouraging new partnerships in the luxury segment.
Just days later, from October 19 to 21, Albufeira will host the 2025 edition of MCE South Europe at the Grande Real Santa Eulália Resort & Hotel Spa. The event will bring together around 100 European buyers specialising in incentive travel and corporate events. During the conference, the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) will hold about 30 scheduled meetings to explore new business opportunities and build relationships with international partners.
Ahead of the main event, a select group of 20 professionals will take part in a familiarisation trip organised by ATA, visiting some of the region’s top venues and facilities to experience first-hand what makes the Algarve competitive in the meetings and events market.
“Hosting two international events of this scale is a unique opportunity to demonstrate the Algarve’s ability to meet the demands of the luxury and business tourism sectors,” said Algarve tourism chief André Gomes. “These markets are key to diversifying demand and creating more opportunities that allow us to guarantee a more balanced flow of visitors throughout the year.”
