‘A Night at the Ritz’, the latest production by the Angels Theatre Group held at Faro’s Teatro Lethes last weekend, raised €7,500 for the city’s Red Cross.
Each performance played to a full house and was greeted with enthusiasm by the audience. “It was wonderful to see this beautiful old theatre full, with patrons sitting in the stalls and four levels of boxes,” said the organisers.
The live entertainment, a selection of songs by the genius Cole Porter, included several of his lesser-known works. Together with his more well-known songs, they were incorporated into a theme around a party at the Ritz Hotel in Paris.
The ‘Angels’ say they are delighted that so many people and organisations stepped forward to assist in this production.
Special thanks are due to a number of Algarve hotels (Conrad Algarve, Real Marina Olhão, Vila Monte Moncarapacho, Vila Vita Parc, Holiday Inn Armação de Pêra, Estoi Palace Pousada and Faro’s Eva Hotel), which donated accommodation for the raffle prizes, and individuals who donated cakes and other goodies for the matinée performance, which included ‘Afternoon Tea at the Ritz’. The Angels would also like to thank those who attended the performances and made it all possible.
So far, the ‘Angels’ have raised a total of more than €40,000 to help those less fortunate in the Algarve community.
