Volkswagen Autoeuropa factory in Palmela, Setúbal, is prepared for demand for its vehicles to drop in the European markets and is reducing daily production by 75 units, rather than having to take the unpalatable step of making workers redundant.
Employees may be temporarily moved to other Volkswagen factories; some may even be offered work in Germany. Volkswagen Autoeuropa currently produces the Volkswagen Sharan, Eos and Scirocco models as well as the Seat Alhambra. The company is adamant that it will guarantee “the maintenance of every job in 2013”.
