Dear Editor,
I was hoping to bring to your attention the action of Lagos Câmara cutting down wild plants in March. First of all, why? They are so pretty to look at and the birds and bees need them. They don’t want to do it in the end of May because it’s hot. The school in Santo Amaro also hates this – ask them!
This year they sent a huge digger-type machine and turned a sight of beauty into nothing, causing lots of problems with dust. The expense for such an operation I cannot imagine. I’ve been to the Câmara three times with no success … Please can you do anything?
Kevin Thompson, Lagos
Editor’s note: Dear Kevin, regrettably there is not a lot we can do apart from exposing this situation by publishing your letter. However, if we are sent similar complaints from other readers you can be sure that we will contact Lagos Câmara from a comment.
