Dear Editor,
Thank you very much for printing the above article, which re-opened old wounds as I, too, have been a victim of just such a scheme, although the capital amount was a mere tenth of this stupendous haul of 250 million pounds.
I have been left in penury and unable to achieve more than pay my rent and just manage to feed my cat as well as myself – this with the help of dear friends – as a result of losing the savings built up by long hours working to be independent of the partial state pension for which I and my late partner qualified.
Most of our group are similarly affected or worse, as more than one premature death has resulted from the stress of losing a home.
I am writing to you to express my shock and anger at the incomprehension of her duties as a protector of the public by Mrs Justice Godley of Blackfriars Crown Court in sentencing this criminal to a mere three and a half years imprisonment and banning from directorship for only six years.
I should be grateful if you would kindly publish this letter, either wholly or in part, as a warning for others.
