Ryanair spokesperson confirmed it was a “false alarm”
A Ryanair plane flying from Faro to Charleroi, Belgium had to make an emergency landing this Tuesday morning following a bomb threat which authorities have confirmed to be fake.
The flight, which departed Faro at 7.26am (Portuguese time) and landed safely at the Belgian airport at 10.52am local time (9.52am in Portugal), was briefly at the centre of a security scare. Speaking to news agency Lusa, Ryanair spokesperson Jade Kirwan confirmed the incident, stating that the threat “was a false alarm.”
As the plane landed, other incoming flights to Charleroi were temporarily diverted while authorities investigated whether there was any credible threat on board. Passengers were safely disembarked, and security teams swiftly cleared the aircraft.
Despite the disruption, the plane was later cleared to prepare for its return flight to Faro.
