CASA reports homeless numbers have risen 73% during pandemic

Homeless support association CASA reports that the pandemic has seen a 73% increase in the number of people it is now trying to support. Requests for help have increased by 40%, seeing the association give vital ‘back up’ to as many as 7,000 people. In a communiqué, CASA says it is currently supporting 1,998 homeless people, with Porto showing a 500% increase in this regard since 2019. Explain reports, before the pandemic there were 140 homeless people in Porto, now there are 824.
