A FEW years ago, Bowen therapy was relatively unheard of. It is now being discovered by people all over the world as a natural, non-invasive therapy suitable for all age groups.
The Bowen therapist, using only thumbs and fingers, makes gentle rolling movements over muscles and tendons at precise points. The process releases energy, sending impulses to the brain to trigger the body’s own healing systems.
Several Bowen therapists currently practising in Portugal recently met in the Algarve to attend a development course to broaden their knowledge and refine their skills in the technique.
Joanne Figov, a top instructor in Bowen therapy, came over from the UK to provide the group with the training. Joanne says: “I love teaching Bowen and sharing what I have learned so that others can benefit from this unique therapy.”
Worldwide network
Gareth Bullock, who hosted the training course, said: “We are part of a worldwide network of practitioners so we are able to draw upon the resources of a large number of very experienced Bowen instructors, such as Joanne, who have additional skills and knowledge and learn and improve our own techniques.”
The Bowen Association Portugal has just been formed by practitioners in Portugal and is seeking other Bowen therapists around Portugal to join them, so they can make a comprehensive list of all therapists using the Bowen technique in the country.
