Lagos is pulling out all the stops for tech enthusiasts this autumn with a packed programme of events showcasing digital innovation and artificial intelligence.
Earlier this month, Google DevFest Lagos 2025 drew more than 250 participants over two action-packed days. Organised by the Google Developer Group (GDG) Lagos in partnership with Lagos municipal council, CoLagos – Espaço de Cowork Municipal, and the Fábrica do Empreendedor, the event explored a wide range of themes.
On October 17, the focus was on the next generation with “DevFest for the Future,” an interactive day for 150 local students. The workshops offered hands-on experiences in coding and AI, inspiring young minds to explore careers in technology.
October 18 shifted attention to professionals, with 120 participants attending talks and workshops under the banner “AI: Theory to Action.” National and international speakers explored practical applications of artificial intelligence, automation, and app development, offering valuable insights for businesses and tech practitioners. Networking sessions and a lively after-party at Dom Henrique rounded off the event.
The DevFest Lagos 2025 was sponsored by Google, Marina Club Lagos Resort, and DH, creating a vibrant meeting point for entrepreneurs, innovators, and digital pioneers.
Looking ahead, Algarve Tech Hub Summit 2025 will keep the momentum going on November 6 and 7 at Hotel Vila Galé Lagos. Open to the public for free (online registration required), the summit brings together national and international speakers across fields from Tourism and the Sea to Health, Energy, Digital, Culture and the Arts.
“During the summit, a vast array of activities, conferences, exhibitions, digital arts and networking events will introduce the Algarve Tech Hub to the world, putting the region on the international technology map and positioning it as a destination of choice that offers the lifestyle desired by digital nomads, remote workers, students, talents, companies and investors interested in making the Algarve their global base,” organisers point out.
“The aim is to promote innovation, technology and business in the Algarve and to position the region as a competitive global technology hub capable of attracting companies, institutions and individuals,” they add.
The event is organised by Algarve Tech Hub, Algarve STP, Algarve Evolution and University of the Algarve with the support of the municipal council of Lagos.
Over the years, Lagos has become one of the Algarve’s most popular destinations for remote workers and digital nomads.
