The Dutch-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce held its first ever event in the Algarve last week at the Sheraton Algarve Pine Cliffs Resort in Albufeira.
Traditionally, the Chamber’s activities are concentrated in Lisbon and Porto, but with the Algarve being an important tourism and foreign investment destination and “a contributor to the recovery of the Portuguese economy”, the Chamber has decided to increase its presence in the region.
The Algarve launch event was attended by more than 200 people, including the Dutch Ambassador Henk Soeters, chamber chairman Eric van Leuven and new Albufeira Mayor Carlos Silva e Sousa.
Two liaison officers have recently been appointed for the Algarve, Dra Sofia Ricardo Borges and Eng. Frans Spijker.
