Ferragudo launches new digital marketplace to boost local shops

Digital one-stop-shop for local commerce aims to bring local shopping into the 21st century

Ferragudo has launched a new digital marketplace designed to boost local commerce and bring it into the 21st century.

Developed by the municipal council of Lagoa alongside business association ACRAL and the parish council of Ferragudo, the ‘Bairro Comercial Digital – Arade Invista’ scheme is part of a national strategy to bring digital solutions to urban centres.

The marketplace, created with funding from Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), brings together a wide range of Ferragudo’s businesses in one place, allowing customers to browse, order and purchase products and services quickly and securely. Local traders also gain access to digital tools to help them promote and manage their businesses more efficiently.

Among the key features of the platform are secure payment integration, easy order management for shop owners, digital catalogues updated by each store, promotions and special campaigns and real-time customer support.

In addition, the municipal council has installed smart lockers in Ferragudo, allowing customers to collect their purchases at any time of the day. The lockers are equipped to handle both standard and refrigerated deliveries.

Looking ahead, a Virtual and Augmented Reality Portal will soon be unveiled, offering residents and visitors an immersive way to explore Ferragudo’s history.
