A man has died and a woman injured following an explosion at a house in a rural area of Castro Marim this morning.
Information is still scarce, with the victims described by rescue authorities as a 78-year-old man and his 73-year-old partner.
The explosion happened in a house in Portela Alta de Baixo and so far the cause is unknown.
Seven vehicles and 17 members of firefighting, GNR police and civil protection authorities were reported to be at the site at 9am. They were alerted to the explosion just before 7am.
