Pilots reported suspected issue with the plane’s flaps
A Jet2 flight en route from Leeds, UK, made an emergency landing at Faro Airport this Monday morning (May 12) after pilots reported a hydraulic failure mid-flight.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737-300 carrying 24 people, landed safely at the airport and no injuries were reported, a civil protection source told Lusa news agency.
The plane was due to arrive normally at the airport before pilots reported a suspected issue with the plane’s flaps – a system used to provide lift and control at lower speeds, critically important during landings.
Authorities activated the airport’s emergency response plan as a precaution, deploying fire crews and support teams in accordance with standard safety protocols.
A total of 50 personnel and 21 emergency vehicles were mobilised by the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command.
