British low-cost airline easyJet has reopened its base at Faro Airport for the summer of 2026, bringing increased capacity and a new route to Newcastle in the United Kingdom.
The airline will offer 1.7 million seats to and from Faro this summer, a 3% increase compared to last year, as it ramps up operations ahead of the peak tourist season.
In total, 18 routes will connect the Algarve to destinations across France, the Netherlands, the UK and Switzerland, strengthening the region’s international links during one of its busiest periods.
The main addition this year is a new connection between Faro and Newcastle, which began operating on March 29 with three weekly flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, expanding options for British travellers.
According to the airline, its Faro base – first launched in 2021 – remains central to its strategy in Portugal, supporting both tourism and the local economy.
Since starting operations in Faro in 1999, easyJet has carried more than 26 million passengers to and from the region.
Across Portugal, the airline expects to operate around seven million seats this summer, covering 93 routes to 14 countries. This includes new connections from Lisbon, Porto and Funchal.
At Faro, four aircraft will be based at the airport during the summer season, supported by additional planes operating throughout the year.
