Lagoa will remain a Socialist-led council following last night’s local elections. PS (Socialist Party) candidate Luís Encarnação, the current mayor, secured a comfortable majority after receiving a lion’s share of votes – 51.57% (5.583).
Second place went to CHEGA, with 22.09% (2,398), while third went to the right-wing coalition of PSD-CDS, with 18.95% (2,052).
The results translate into four seats (mandates) for PS, two for CHEGA and one for PSD-CDS.
