A man in his 40s has died after being stabbed in the Algarve coastal town of Quarteira on Wednesday night (October 29).
According to initial reports, the victim was stabbed in the chest during a heated argument and lost a large amount of blood. When emergency services arrived, he was already in cardiorespiratory arrest.
The attacker reportedly fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Police sources said the incident occurred on a public street in the centre of Quarteira and that the victim later died at the hospital from his injuries.
PJ criminal police have taken over the investigation from the GNR.
