Man was taken to the hospital
A 40-year-old man was rescued on Tuesday (June 17) after reportedly falling from a cliff near João de Arens beach in Portimão.
Authorities were alerted at 1.37pm, prompting a response from multiple emergency services, including the Ferragudo lifeboat station crew, local maritime police, and Portimão volunteer firefighters, says Portugal’s maritime authority (AMN).
Upon arrival, responders found the man on the beach below, having fallen from a rocky area. He was quickly given first aid at the scene by firefighters and lifeboat personnel, who then transported him by boat to Portimão Marina. From there, the man was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
