PJ police apprehend new haul of key ecstacy ingredient

Following a major coup last month (click here), PJ police in Lisbon have apprehended another ton and a half of BMK, one of the key substances used in the production of ecstacy.

This time, the BMK arrived via air from China. The large parcel was destined for “a country in central Europe”, say reports which estimate that around 10 million ecstacy pills will have been removed from the production chain.

The haul was intercepted at Lisbon airport by PJ police agents working in conjunction with Europol and other European forces.

It follows the recovery of 4.5 tons of BMK in jerry cans in February.
