Event is set to bring Portimão to life and attract over 200,000 people across two nights
Noitada, a nighttime festival which was a major success in its first edition last year, will take place for the second time in Portimão on July 25 and 26, promising expanded programming and international performances. Organisers expect the free-entry event to attract more than 200,000 people, surpassing the 150,000 recorded in its inaugural edition in 2024.

The festival will feature interactive light installations, video mapping, immersive visual shows, and live performances from both Portuguese and international artists. Key venues include the town’s riverside zone, historic centre, Praça da República (also known as Alameda), and the town’s old bridge, which will again host a scheduled laser show throughout both nights.
New to this year’s programme is the “Eclipse” fire and light show by international group Lights in Motion, to be staged at Palco Doca. Also introduced is a water show at Praça Manuel Teixeira Gomes, running ten times nightly.
Four themed stages will host music acts including IRIS, The Black Mamba, Criatura, Ritual Tejo, and DJ Nikky with MC Marvão. Fado performances by artists such as Joana Rato, Afonso Silva, and Adiafa will take place at Largo da Mó, while the Zona Ribeirinha riverside will feature artists such as Domi, Sickonce, and Os Compotas. Meanwhile, a Silent Disco will be held at Jardim 1º de Dezembro.
Noitada, organised by New Sheet with support from the municipal council of Portimão and other regional partners, received a Gold Award at the 2024 Eventex Awards, which recognise excellence in the global events industry.

According to a study by the University of the Algarve’s CiTUR research centre, the 2024 edition generated a €2.6 million economic impact, with 42% of that value attributed to visitors from outside the municipality. The study also found that over 80% of attendees expressed interest in returning, and 95% would recommend the event.
Authorities have confirmed that public safety measures are in place for the 2025 edition, and logistical coordination is ongoing across multiple municipal departments.
The event is free to attend and is scheduled to run from early evening to the early morning hours on both days.
