São Brás de Alportel joins “mountain motorhome route”

Better facilities for motorhomers keen to explore the "authentic Algarve"

São Brás de Alportel council has signed a cooperation agreement with the Mountain Motorhome Route (Rota Serrana de Autocaravanismo).

The aim is to promote sustainable tourism in the interior of the region, by consolidating the regional network of motorhome service areas in the Algarve, thus “enhancing heritage, boosting the local economy and promoting tourism”. This will ensure the ‘Serrana’ route becomes an “integrated tourist product”.

By creating a regional network of Motorhome Service Areas (Áreas de Serviço de Autocaravanismo, ASA), the aim is to establish the Algarve as a quality destination for motorhomers, promoting cooperation between municipalities and offering visitors a variety of experiences: from buying local products to visiting attractions, interacting with communities and discovering natural landscapes.

As the driving force behind the “Rota Serrana”, the In Loco Association is coordinating this inter-municipal network, with the support of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, through the Municipal Motorhome Service Area, which opened in March 2022.

Located next to the EN2, on Rua Jaime Pinto, at the southern entrance to the town, this infrastructure puts São Brás de Alportel on the map as a leading destination for motorhome tourism, offering modern and functional facilities in a space designed to welcome visitors keen to explore the “authentic Algarve”.
