Boat was towed ashore while all seven people aboard were rescued safely
A day out at sea took a sudden turn near Carvoeiro beach in Lagoa on Sunday when seven people were rescued from a sinking leisure boat by members of Ferragudo’s lifeboat station.
Authorities were alerted at 5.36pm via the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre in Lisbon (MRCC Lisboa), triggering a swift response from the local lifeboat stations. Teams from Portimão’s maritime police, the SeaWatch Project, and Lagoa’s volunteer firefighters also rushed to the scene, according to a statement by Portugal’s Maritime Authority (AMN).
Upon arrival, the Ferragudo lifeboat crew rescued all seven people on board and transported them safely back to the lifeboat station, where they received assistance from emergency responders.
The sinking vessel was later towed ashore by another nearby boat, with the owner arranging its removal.
