Despite a very close race, Tavira will continue as a Socialist-led (PS) municipality.
Current mayor Ana Paula Martins was the local winner of the night, with a 43.46% share of the votes (5,723), just 409 votes more than PSD (40.28%, 5,304).
In terms of municipal seats, PS will hold four, with PSD limited to three.
