The 18th edition of the MOVE.Tavira walk and run event will take place in Tavira on Sunday, March 15, starting from Praça da República.
Featuring accessible 5km and 10km routes, the event is once again part of the Algarve Walking and Running Calendar organised by the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth.

MOVE.Tavira aims to raise awareness of colon and rectal cancer as part of “Blue March” (Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month), while also reinforcing the importance of breast cancer prevention, marking International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8. Beyond promoting healthy lifestyles through regular physical activity and balanced nutrition, the initiative raises funds to support people living with cancer and their families.
Registrations can be completed online or in person at the AOA headquarters, União de Freguesias de Tavira and VivaGym. Participation requires a minimum €8 donation. Each registered participant will receive a kit including a cloth bag, a reusable water bottle (reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to reducing single-use plastic), a cotton T-shirt, and various promotional items such as brochures and small gifts, subject to availability.
On the day of the event, participants will also be able to take advantage of free health screenings, relaxation massages, fitness classes and other activities.
The charity initiative is promoted by the Algarve Oncology Association in collaboration with the municipal council and parish union of Tavira, as well as municipal company Taviraverde.
