Verdelago Resort reopens in March with new experiences

Gastronomy will play a central role in the resort's experience

The Verdelago Resort, located between Altura and Praia Verde, in Castro Marim, reopens for the new season on March 14.

Set in a pine forest with direct access to the beach via wooden walkways, the reopening of tourist operations also marks the beginning of a new phase for the project.

Over the coming months, the resort is preparing new experiences linked to nature, well-being and lifestyle, reinforcing its position as a “destination for stays throughout the year and not just in high season”.

Among the highlights is the announcement that chef Louis Anjos is joining the gastronomic leadership at Verdelago. The chef is developing a completely new gastronomic concept, based on seasonality and local produce, which will be progressively implemented in the different dining areas.

Gastronomy will now play a central role in the resort’s experience and future positioning, with its own identity, developed in a sustainable manner and deeply connected to the territory, anchored in the product, seasonality and authenticity.

This commitment will be accompanied by new initiatives and regular programming, with an extensive calendar of activities and events already in preparation for 2026.

Gustavo Martins, General Manager of Verdelago, says: “We want to once again provide an experience that prioritises time, nature and tranquillity. Verdelago was designed to be enjoyed calmly, in contact with the surrounding landscape.”

Verdelago Resort currently comprises tourist accommodation, restaurants and leisure and sports facilities, with the five-star hotel still under construction.

Described as the only sustainable luxury resort on the Algarve’s coastline, it covers around 86 hectares and is known for its low building density and abundance of green spaces, with footpaths and cycle paths and direct access to the beach.
