Winter hours, busy weekends and a Howl-o-ween party

Cadela Carlota announces new opening hours and Halloween event

As the weather changes, so do our hours. Cadela Carlota animal shelter in Lagos is now open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 1pm for regular and experienced walkers.

If you’re new, the best time to visit is on Saturdays and Sundays, when more volunteers are around to show you the ropes, introduce the dogs, and explain the walking routines. It’s a great way to get started and see what we do.

Fosters urgently needed

Foster homes are needed now more than ever — for both cats and dogs.

At the Ferry Cats colony in Meia Praia, more abandoned kittens have appeared in recent weeks. They will need both medical treatment and a sterile environment for a short time.

Amora, one of our pups, recently pulled through a tough bout of Parvovirus thanks to her foster family, and Barão is doing well in temporary care while he builds confidence.

If you can offer a quiet space and some time, please get in touch. Even short stays make a real difference. Please remember that Cadela Carlota will cover costs.

Community events and Halloween fun

As we move into the holiday season, keep an eye on our social media for events hosted by local partners. Their energy and creativity bring people together and raise vital funds for the animals.

One event not to miss is HOWL-O-WEEN at PIE in Lagos, our charity Pet Costume Contest on Friday, October 31 from 2pm-5pm.

Dress up your dog for a chance to win a €20 PIE gift voucher, enjoy a special dog menu, and compete for fun prizes.

If your dog isn’t keen on crowds, you can still take part – visit PIE anytime from Monday, October 27 to Friday, October 31, snap a photo of your pet in costume, and you’ll be entered in the competition. Please RSVP @pie.lagos as spaces are limited.
