The Algarve has been chosen to host one of the five annual editions of Journeys, a leading international event for luxury travel professionals and high-end tourism. The announcement was made during the closing gala of Journeys Ibiza 2025.
Supported by the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) through the Extraordinary Tourism Promotion Plan, the event will take place from October 19 to 22, 2026, marking the first time the Journeys series comes to Portugal.
Entirely dedicated to showcasing the region, Journeys Algarve 2026 will highlight the “authenticity, hospitality and quality” of the Algarve’s tourism offering. The event will bring together 40 international luxury travel buyers from key markets such as the United States and Canada, and 40 Algarve-based companies in the high-end segment.
Known for its unique “Fam-Meet” format, Journeys combines business meetings with immersive local experiences in a bid to create genuine connections and long-term partnerships. Sustainability and local engagement are central to the event’s philosophy, organisers with a focus on using regional products and services throughout the program.
“It’s a great honour and joy to welcome Journeys 2026 to the Algarve,” said ATA president André Gomes. “This will be an extraordinary opportunity to show the world that the Algarve is much more than sun and sea – it’s a land of culture, tradition, gastronomy, and authenticity, with unique infrastructures and experiences that meet the expectations of luxury traveller expects.”
By hosting the event, the Algarve joins an exclusive list of Journeys destinations that includes Italy, Spain, the UK and the United States.
