As of today, 22,700 Ukrainians fleeing the horrors of the Russian invasion of their country have been given temporary protection status by Portugal. Roughly a third continue to be children. The General Medical Council meantime is concerned by what it calls the “chaotic nature” of transport of refugees into this country, and urges all of them to register with SEF as soon as possible after their arrival, giving an address which can be followed up on. The council’s concerns centre principally on the threat of human trafficking, say reports.
