More than 20 public hospitals are to start having patients interned in their own homes.
It’s a solution, imported from abroad, designed to reduce the risks posed by multiresistant hospital infections, and save money at the same time.
Patients will receive all the necessary hospital care.
Already 23 hospitals have signed up to the programme, and more are expected to follow.
“Domiciliary Hospitalisation’ will begin in June next year.
Regional health authorities are now expected to start working on all the logistics.
The regime will run 24/7, say reports, “with permanent medical and nursing support” and “nighttime prevention”.
