“Arte e Poesia” is the name of an educational project led by local artists that has been carried out at different schools in the Algarve from 2016 to 2018.
The book, entitled Arte e Poesia, showcases a selection of student artwork, such as drawings, paintings, collages, prints and objects. The selection is complemented by the works of the finalists in the Sovereign Art Competition 2018, which promotes the talent of aspiring artists in the Algarve.
With the help of teachers, Rotarian David Trubshaw and German artist Gudrun Bartels, workshops were held with students of different ages and works of art on thematic groups were developed.
From these student works, a large selection was compiled and published into the 80-page book for all to admire.
Arte e Poesia is available from April at the Lady in Red – Galeria de Arte in Lagoa. Donations are accepted. Proceeds will be channeled through the Rotary Club Silves.
