All bowling competitions finished for this season and we are now moving into the madness of the numerous visiting teams, which most clubs have at this time of year. But first, we must have the prize-presentation dinner, which took place on Friday, March 23 at the Hotel Baía Grande in Albufeira.
Attended by over 100 of the Algarve’s best bowlers to collect hard-earned rewards, the evening began with pre-dinner drinks, followed by a sumptuous three-course meal, enjoyed by everyone.
Then onto the business of the evening – presenting the medals to the ‘runners up’ and awards to finalists, each category warmly applauded with many congratulations to everyone.
Albufeira Cats took the League ‘A’ Title, with Valverde Vipers holding the title of League ‘B’.
Albufeira also won the Super 10’s Competition and Valverde won the Cameron Cup. Well done to all teams, and especially to the winners.
After the prize-presentation ceremony, there was dancing to music provided by a DJ.
Albufeira also held their traditional celebration of St. Patrick’s Day on Friday, March 16 – a day early due to the clash with the rugby! This was also a celebration for their club’s success in the League and Super 10’s whilst also their final event as their green is now closed to bowling for the summer, reopening later in the year, ready for the next winter league bowling season.
Whilst most clubs now have visiting teams for the next few months, the next item on the bowling agenda is the start of the Summer League in May, which runs through June and completes before the real summer heat.
