Cascais’ “new Davos” seeks to debate more balanced sustainable future

Horasis Global Meeting is the name of the four-day event taking place in Cascais in May that means to become “the new Davos” – another forum for movers and shakers to debate the future.

Whereas Davos prides itself on being the ‘world economic forum’, Horasis is focussing more on technology.

Organiser Frank-Jurgen Richter told Lusa: “Portugal is the idea country for this meeting. It is the cradle of emerging technology in Europe… the new world centre of global dialogue due to its excellent geographic position between the East and the West”.

Cascais has been chosen for “bringing together all the ingredients to attract experienced investors, and leading politicians and decision makers”.

Among VIPs on the guest list are prime minister António Costa, 600 people whom Richter calls ‘world leaders’, among the ‘businessmen’ category, former European Commissioner Durão Barroso – now working as non-executive president of world investment bank Goldman Sachs.

Reports Lusa, over 60 sessions – taking in lectures and debates – Horasis Global Meeting will discuss subjects like “sustainable development, migrations, blockchain technology (the private storing of data) , Artificial Intelligence and youth employment.
