André Ventura advised to rest and take care of himself
With CHEGA leader André Ventura now given a ‘clean bill of health’ by doctors at Faro Hospital and discharged, the causes of his indisposition in Tavira yesterday have come clear.
A source at the hospital has told reporters that Ventura suffered a “gastro-oesophageal reflux with associated hypertensive spike”.
Another source has suggested when he arrived at Faro Hospital, Ventura showed symptoms of “altered blood pressure”. But according to Tiago Botelho, president of the hospital’s Board of Directors, the diagnosis is now closed and the CHEGA leader “is fine”.
Ventura was discharged shortly before 10am this morning, “only with the recommendation of rest and vigilance” – something that will be almost impossible in the coming days as the political leader fights for CHEGA’s ascendance in the legislative elections on Sunday. It is understood, however, that he will not be on the campaign trail today.
Speaking to journalists, Botelho assured that the doctors had not detected any “situation that would warrant attention” requiring the politician to remain in hospital.
The hospital boss also said that the “VIP protocol” had been applied to this case, with Ventura spending the night in a single room in the intensive care unit “for privacy”.
