Dog was stranded on a cliffside
A dog was rescued from a dangerous situation after becoming stranded on a cliffside with no safe way back up in Carvoeiro, Lagoa.
Authorities sprang into action after receiving an alert at around 10am on Monday morning (May 19) that the pup was stranded on a cliff near the iconic Alfanzina lighthouse, says the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
Teams from the Ferragudo Lifeboat Station and Portimão Maritime Police Command rushed to the scene, being joined by firefighters from Lagoa and municipal workers from the local council.
Using a lifeboat, rescuers managed to reach the dog and bring it safely aboard. The mission ended with a happy reunion as the dog – luckily unharmed – was returned to its owner.
