Healthy restaurants

TRADITIONAL PORTUGUESE food served in restaurants has been deemed “healthy” by the Association of Restaurants in Portugal (ARESP).

A survey into the nutritional value of foods served in Portuguese restaurants by the ARESP has found that the Portuguese menu generally contains lots of rice and vegetables and can be considered to be a healthy meal.

As part of a national bid to reduce levels of obesity restaurants are being encouraged to offer clients healthier food options including meals with reduced levels of salt.
