Lagoa hosts Algarve Orchestra’s ‘Fire That Comes from the Cold’ concert

Orquestra do Algarve returns to the stage with a passionate mix of Mozart, Saint-Saëns and Schubert

The Algarve Orchestra will perform “O Fogo que Vem do Frio” (“The Fire That Comes from the Cold”) at Lagoa’s Carlos do Carmo auditorium on Saturday, November 1, at 7pm.

Under the baton of Pablo Urbina, and featuring Mikhail Shumov, the orchestra’s principal cellist, as soloist, the evening promises a night of masterfully performed classical pieces.

The programme opens with Mozart’s overture to Don Giovanni, which heralded the dawn of musical romanticism, after which Shumov will take centre stage for Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor. The evening will conclude with Schubert’s Symphony No. 1, written when the composer was just sixteen.

Tickets are priced at €8, with discounts available for holders of Lagoa’s Cultural Passport, and can be purchased through Bol.pt, CTT, Fnac, Worten, and local municipal outlets including the Carlos do Carmo auditorium and the São José convent.
