The stage is set once again at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium as the 6th edition of the Grand Jeté International Dance Awards returns to Lagoa from Thursday to Saturday (July 10-12), celebrating the very best in classical ballet and contemporary dance.
The prestigious international competition brings together young dancers aged 5 to 20 from all walks of life – regardless of background, ethnicity or geography – offering them a platform to shine.
Over three days, dancers from around the globe will compete in front of an international jury, presenting both classical repertoires and original contemporary choreographies. The first two days of action will take place from 9.30am to 2pm at the auditorium, while the gala performance will be held on Saturday at 8pm, featuring the best award-winning participants. These young talents, representing various nationalities, will perform a selection of classical and contemporary pieces. The Gala will also include a special guest appearance by Diana dos Santos, a professional dancer with the CNDM Ballet of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in the Czech Republic.
The event is directed and designed by Inana Wolfsdorf, who is also responsible for the lighting and staging. The dancers come from both national and international institutions, and the production is managed by the Associação Cultural Caballet.
Tickets for each competition session are priced at €3, while the gala tickets cost €10. Discounts are available for holders of the Passaporte Cultural, which can be obtained through Lagoa’s municipal services. Tickets are already on sale and can be purchased online (www.cm-lagoa.bol.pt) or at physical points of sale including CTT, FNAC, Worten, the Auditório Carlos do Carmo, the Centro Cultural Convento de S. José, and the Balcão Único of Câmara Municipal de Lagoa.
