Ricardo Calé, the Socialist (PS) mayoral candidate for Olhão, celebrated a big win last night, securing a municipal majority for the party once again.
Nearly half of the vote (48.55%, 9,700) went to Calé, who will succeed António Pina – the man who lead Olhão for PS since 2012 and has now been elected mayor in Faro. CHEGA followed as a distant second (29.24%, 5,842) while the PSD-CDS coalition finished third (11.50%, 2,297).
Most of the municipal seats go to PS (four), with CHEGA limited to two and PSD-CDS to one.
