The blaze broke out in a rural area of Moncarapacho
Over 70 firefighters are tackling a wildfire which broke out in Olhão shortly before 2am this afternoon (July 14).
The fire is burning in a rural area of Moncarapacho known as Cerro de São Miguel.
According to Portugal’s civil protection website, firefighters are being aided by over 20 vehicles, including four aerial means.
Update: By 4.39pm, the fire had been described as “em resolução”, meaning it is under control but not yet fully extinguished.
