More vehicles were recharged at electric charging points in August than at any other period since the introduction of electric vehicles in Portugal.
The National Charging Network (Rede Mobi.E) achieved unprecedented results across all indicators, consolidating Portugal as a country in the lead of energy transition and electric vehicle uptake.
Throughout August, 873,000 charges were done, a growth of 48% on August 2024 by around 153,000 users – up 54% on the previous year. And the energy consumed kept pace with this upward trend, reaching 20.3 GWh, up 62% on the same period in 2024.
The study also reveals an interesting pattern: Fridays were generally the day when most people charged up their cars (probably because many people set off for their summer holidays on Fridays) with an average of 29,000 daily charges – the day of the week with the most demand.
And in August, a record 30,000 charges were recorded in a single day – a feat achieved four times that month, two of which were on a Friday.
