MORE THAN 40 prizes were given away by generous sponsors at this year’s British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce end-of-term bash at Lisbon’s Hotel Marriott on Friday.
This year’s event, which is held annually before the summer holidays, took place in the Marriott’s gardens, where cocktails were served before guests and members took their seats inside to enjoy a self-service buffet and grilled sardines and spare ribs.
Instead of the usual end-of-term speeches on how the year had gone, it was decided that the event, which also counted on the participation of the recently formed Indian Chamber

of Commerce, would have a Grand Raffle.
Prizes included two-night stays and dinners in luxury hotels and restaurants such as the Melia Ria Hotel & Spa, Park Atlantic Lisboa & Porto, Lisbon Marriott, Vila Galé Hotels, Sheraton Algarve Pine Cliffs Resort and Praia d’El Rey Golf & Beach Resort. Two free flights were also given away, including four return tickets offered by Monarch to any of their destinations in the UK, a Toshiba video camera, and scores of bottles of vintage port and wines from Croft, Fonseca, Taylor’s courtesy of Fladgate Partnership, Vinhos SA and Quinta do Sanguinhal among others.
Great music
“We decided to combine both the Garden Party and have a sit down event because people like to sit down, eat and chat,” said Helena Fernandes of the BPCC.
After the raffle winners were announced, those with the stamina had the chance to get down and boogie on the dance floor to 1970s and 1980s music with DJ Pedro from DJ People.
