Spain’s fourth largest law firm opens Lisbon office

One of the largest and most important Spanish law firms has opened an office in Lisbon.

Gómez-Acebo & Pombo will have a team of 23 solicitors working under Portuguese partners Albano Sarmento and Jorge Santiago Neves and resident partner Fermin Garbayo.

The branch, which is based in Lisbon in Avenida da Liberdade, 131, was inaugurated last week and included the attendance of the Spanish Ambassador to Lisbon.

Among those present at the cocktail party and inauguration was the company’s President, Fernando Pombo, the director partner Manuel Martin and three other partners, Jorge Neves, Fermin Garbayo and Albano Sarmento.

The company has had a vigorous growth and expansion policy in recent years and the opening of the Lisbon office is seen as a key step to that expansion.

The company, which also has a branch in London, has a strategy to develop legal services and partnerships with companies operating in the lucrative and expanding Angolan and Mozambique markets.
