The conference was hosted by the Portuguese Parliament, Assembleia da República, and took place at the parliament building.
The agenda included discussions on the impact of the Treaty of Lisbon which has just been passed and ratified by both houses in the United Kingdom parliament, as well as discussing the new responsibilities of national parliaments and the partnership with the European Parliament, EU/Russia relations, women’s participation in political life, and the role of inter-parliamentary assemblies in the promotion of democracy.
The conference programme included a lunch hosted by the President of the Parliament, Dr Jaime Gama, at Queluz Palace.
