10 years of Portimão Wine Tasting

Wine tasting event shines spotlight on the best Portimão wines

This weekend (July 18-20), the historic Santa Catarina Fortress at Praia da Rocha will host the milestone 10th edition of Portimão Wine Tasting.

The event shines the spotlight on the best local wines, all while gifting attendees to some of the best views of the Arade River and coastline.

Wine lovers will have the chance to sample top-quality wines from three local producers: Arvad (UCA), Quinta da Penina, and Villa Alvor. Alongside the wine, there’s no shortage of great food: expect oysters from the Ria de Alvor, seafood, cheeses, cured meats, and the festival favourite – roast pork on the spit. Those with a sweet tooth can also look forward to an array of desserts and local sweets.

There will also be live music every evening, as well as several “surprises” which organisers have planned to celebrate the event’s 10th anniversary.

Organised by the Portimão Tourism Association with the support of the local council, the event is free to attend and runs each evening from 8pm to midnight. Tasting glasses cost €2, while wine samples range from €2.50 (standard wines) to €3.50 (reserves).
